How does testing work?
Prior to the first appointment, every client will receive an email with a welcome letter, evaluation consent and policies agreement, HIPAA and biopsychosocial form attached. Please review, sign and complete all forms and bring them to the initial intake session. Depending on the purpose of the evaluation and the age of the client, I may also send you links to questionnaires that are to be completed by you, your child and your child's teacher.
1. Intake: I will first meet with adult clients or parents of child or teen clients to gain a better understanding of the nature of the concerns, obtain further information about academic, medical, and developmental history, and learn about any social, emotional, or behavioral concerns and history. I will also review the information that I asked you to complete prior to our first session.
2. Testing sessions: Evaluations are typically scheduled over the course of two to three sessions in 2-4 hour blocks (gifted testing takes one 2-3 hour block). However, depending on the nature of the concern, the individual's attention, work pace, and number of breaks needed during the testing session(s), additional time and/or meetings may be necessary.
IN SOME INSTANCES ARRANGEMENTS CAN BE MADE FOR TESTING SESSIONS TO TAKE PLACE AT YOUR CHILD'S SCHOOL. CONTACT ME FOR DETAILS.
3. Test scoring and interpretation: The tests and questionnaires are scored, analyzed, and interpreted by me. Results are presented in a written report.
4. Feedback session: After testing is completed, an appointment will be made to review the results of the testing. During the feedback session, a detailed written report is presented and reviewed with the client or family. Strengths and weaknesses are discussed, and recommendations are tailored to address specific needs.
